Helm Contemporary presents:

Cross Currents: New York - London | July 16- August 2, 2025
Exhibition Opening | July 16th, 6-8 PM | Helm Contemporary, New York, NY

New York, NY – Helm Contemporary is proud to announce the opening of “Cross Currents,” a vibrant new exhibition uniting a group of twenty-four international artists in a shared exploration of painterly abstraction. The exhibition, featuring a rich variety of process-based abstract work, marks the beginning of an ongoing transatlantic dialogue centered on material, gesture, and the evolving language of abstraction.

Rooted in a unified commitment to the act of painting, the featured artists represent a spectrum of approaches—gestural, lyrical, structural, and intuitive—all grounded in deep engagement with process and materials. The exhibition embraces the notion of discovery through making, celebrating abstraction as an ever-evolving frontier, unrestricted by rules or fixed outcomes.

As digital communication accelerates and global connectivity expands, these artists respond with tactile presence, experimental methods, and a profound attentiveness to their materials. The resulting works reflect influences ranging from natural forms to historical inquiry, filtered through the immediacy of the painted mark.

This New York showing is the first in a two-part exhibition with a second iteration, presented by Terrace in London in late 2025.

There will be an Artists’ Panel Discussion held at Helm Contemporary on Saturday, July 19, at 3 PM
