Closing soon:

The Shadow Side of Everything, Pt. 1
Closing April 12, Huddersfield, UK

The Shadow Side of Everything, Pt. 1 brings together artists from the UK and New York in an exhibition that foregrounds painting as a process of searching rather than resolution. As the first chapter of a two-part project, the exhibition establishes a shared language rooted in material exploration, perceptual uncertainty, and the tension between deliberate structure and intuitive gesture.

Across the works, surfaces carry the trace of their own making—layered, revised, and at times deliberately unresolved. Forms emerge and recede, compositions shift, and color operates less as harmony than as a destabilizing force. The result is a body of work that resists closure, inviting viewers into an active encounter where meaning is contingent, provisional, and continually in flux.

On view through April 12. Presented by Terrace, Huddersfield.

Upcoming:

The Shadow Side of Everything, Pt. 2
Opening April 16, London, UK

The Shadow Side of Everything, Pt. 2 continues an evolving transatlantic dialogue, bringing together artists from the UK and New York whose practices engage painting as a site of instability, negotiation, and material inquiry. Following the first iteration in Huddersfield, this second chapter expands the project’s focus on process, perception, and the generative tension between control and contingency.

Across the exhibition, works resist fixed interpretation, instead unfolding through shifts in scale, surface, and structure. Gestural mark-making, provisional forms, and layered revisions foreground painting as an active field—one in which meaning emerges over time through sustained looking. The exhibition invites viewers to move through a space where clarity and ambiguity coexist, and where the “shadow side” becomes less a metaphor than a condition: a way of understanding how images form, dissolve, and persist at the edge of perception.

On view through May 3. Presented by Terrace, London.
